Outdoor Classroom

Chappy, Levana and Paige
At Conondale state school we have been building an outdoor classroom in the garden. The roof was recycled from iron that was donated. The uprights were recycled from a gumtree that was going to fall on the library. The battens are the bits of wood that the roof is attached to, we got the wood from Cambroon bridge when the council pulled it down after the floods. The bench seats are made from an old shed that we demolished. Than we put a rubbish bin lid that we were throwing away.
Eventually the year 6/7 class will plant some colourful flowers around the outdoor classroom.  It’s going to be so much better than working inside! WE CAN’T WAIT!!!

Garden progress

The first stage of the garden was making sure we had the right soil, when that was right to go, we built raised garden beds from the old trees in the area of the garden. The outdoor class room or garden pagoler was built from tree from Crystal waters Morag got to chose which trees and the man came and delivered them to us cut and ready to be used. Produce such as basil, coriander, lettuce, lemon grass and more  snow peas are growing in the garden but they get eaten by the students before we can harvest them. we have harvested one manderne and one orange the chicken pen is now in process and we have made one batch of compost and is ready to be put in the garden. The 1/2/3 class have made 7 bamboo support structures for the produce in the garden to grow on.
